Begin Again

Maple City, Michigan

You can begin again.

At any time.

Start over.

Hit the "refresh" button.

You can be taken apart and put back together. It might hurt, a little.  Or perhaps it's the best hurt you've ever had.  It can be done by you or it can be done to you.  Either way, it's possible and that my friend is hope.

In a million little pieces you can be scattered flat and then rebuilt.  The best part? You don't return to the former-better-version-of-you that you have locked in your head.  Oh no, you become the better version of you...

the parts that are real.

Ride on.

Slow is Pro

I work for a financial advisor by day and manage a small car obsession at night. What I mean by "manage" is that I resist the urge to buy a new car on a daily basis. My dad posted this pic to his Instagram (yes, he has an Instagram and he knows how to use it). He bought the Tundra brand new and because he is "steady Eddy" he will keep this truck until it dies. My dad is a Number 6 on the Ennegram , a "Loyalist" which means he is "The committed, security-oriented type. Sixes are reliable, hard-working, responsible, and trustworthy." I'm a Number 7, "Sevens are extroverted, optimistic, versatile, and spontaneous. Playful, high-spirited, and practical, they can also misapply their many talents, becoming over- extended, scattered, and undisciplined." My cars rarely make it to their expiration date.

My 30's are reinforcing this phrase, "slow is pro". Time takes time. We are waiting on our own desires to become known, waiting on the destinies of others to collide with ours andwaiting for an answer. The seasons move in and out taking us with them as it is with time. And yes, in my mind that 300,000 mile mark is an indication of a father who has adopted the phrase "slow is pro" and is hoping that his daughter will consider delaying Number 7's desire to chase every shiny thing.

We'll see. Time will tell <sigh>

WHAT IS TO COME & WHAT FALLS BEHIND

Hoxie Road / Leelanau County

Beyond devouring Kinfolk page by page, I have also navigated through their contributors list website by website.  I stopped here at Rose & Crown and haven't been able to leave for a couple of reasons.  The first being the beauty of a baby.  The second being the weight of her words.

So simple.

So clean.

So how I want to be.

I'm sitting in a Retirement Planning Class right now (part of working for a left brain office).  I am the youngest here. With each hand raised there are new questions about what is to come.  I ask myself the same.  Everything is before me and what falls behind shall remain.  My hands are wide open and heavy with anticipation.

When will the white aisle roll out?

Which baby names aren't taken?

What color should the dining room be?

Some decisions carry more consequences than the other but are valid nonetheless.  What about you? Are you laying down with what has fallen behind or are you moving ahead anticipating what is to come? The winter blanket will soon be removed and we will be released into a new season.
